I’ve always been a great fan of Sofar Sounds since the time it started. This was the first ever Sofar gig that I got to play and the experience was phenomenal.
It was kind of intimidating when I started my set, with about 50 people sitting in a living room in pin drop silence who are there just to see the artist perform!
I think this initiative is great for upcoming independent artists in the country and over the world because it builds a confidence in the artist with respect to his/her art because the audience is supportive mostly & I was lucky enough to perform in front of such great supportive people.
Also such gigs are a learning experience for the audience because mostly when people go out for gigs half their focus is lost when everyone is talking and ordering food etc. the Artist at such gigs goes in the background rather than being the center of attention.

I performed as a part of a collective, that is, my musician friends were supporting me in the set and I’m glad my friends and I were together for such an incredible performance.
I felt lucky performing in front of such a great group of supportive people who unlike bar gigs, were just there to appreciate upcoming independent musicians.

Sofar Sounds Delhi NCR is single-handedly spreading a culture of respecting the Artist and a lot of people who attend the show will take that serene experience home with them and try to implement it themselves at other places and venues.
I appreciate the Sofar team that worked on making the show so beautiful for me and I’m looking forward to playing my next Sofar Gig soon.
My experience was so good that I ended up attending another Sofar gig the following month after my performance to experience what was it like on the other side.
Truth be told, it was one of the greatest experience and I’d recommend all of you to attend a gig to feel the difference yourself.
